Brewing news USA: Boston Beer is planning to open Freetown brewery

The Boston Beer Company Inc., which brews Samuel Adams beer, is considering opening a brewery in Freetown, Mass., according The Standard Times news report on April 6.

Spokeswoman Michelle Sullivan said the company, which makes Samuel Adams beers, might expand one of its two breweries in Boston and Cincinnati. "We just started these meetings two weeks ago," Sullivan said. "We're very early in the discussions."

The Standard-Times reported that Freetown, Mass., could be the winner. The new brewery would be housed in a 250,000-square-foot facility in Campanelli Business Park and create 50 to 75 full-time jobs, according to a letter from Boston Beer Co. to Freetown selectmen. It would cost $75 million to $90 million to build, according to Jeffrey D. White, the Boston-based brewer's chief operating officer.
